If you know the difference between south africa and southern africa then you don't have to read this.
So from many questions from uninformed people all over the globe I have determined the following.
When an uninformed person sees that I live in SOUTH africa, they ignore the 'south' part and just think africa.
Now the following media induced image of africa plays in their head.
The image plays off in a big grass plain, full of lions, elephants, meerkats and cheetahs, all at the foot of a big snow covered mountain(kilimanjaro). the camera pans to the left and they see white people killing black people, but then Nelson Mandela stops them, then the camera zooms in and they see the grim reaper sporting a brand new adidas 'AIDS' line track suit who simply touches people to give them aids. and then they die...then the camera pans to the right and there are guerilla soldiers firing at government soldiers with AK's and RPG's sold to them by nicolas cage. And then the cam pans to some wild thorn trees for a time lapse of the sunset.
All these things happen in Africa yes, but it's a fucking HUUUUUUUUUUUGE continent with many countries. I've never heard an AK fire, I've never seen a gorilla or a guerilla and I don't even know someone with AIDS. South Africa is the tamed part of africa. It's more of an effort for me to go 3000km north ( the orange is about 4-5k kilometers away) than it is to go to London.I've travelled in the blue country and everywhere in the green country.
I have now drawn this simple map so people know a little bit of africa and so they don't ask me about civil wars and lions in my backyard. My backyard has a pool, a neat garden, and my 2 cats running around it, I don't hunt in it. Me and my friends drink southern comfort and jack daniels in it.
Please don't leave a smart-ass comment. for it on this subject.
Really cool and funny! And thanks for the hint with Namibia! I hope I have the possibility to visit this country.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm featuring a little part of the deviant community ! Asked few days ago, and requested everyone to show me their 3 favourites photos in their own gallery, and the 3 most popular!
So, here is it.
Follow me if you want to be in the next feature, I'll create a new poll for it soon!
