The Good ol Fence by hougaard The Good ol Fence by hougaard
The deviants who have been watching me from the very beginning might remember this guy. I shot most of my first sunsets here as it's close to home and an awesome location.

The weather on this occasion was great but the surf was massive and I had to stand on a concrete structure to stay out of it. I wish I could have gotten closer.

5D II
Canon 24-70mm
Lee big stopeer
Lee 0.9 soft grad
ISO100
f/14
231 seconds

Strand, South Africa

This is badass! I really dig the exposure of the clouds. How many stops is the Lee big stop? I wouldn't mind upgrading from my ND400 :)

The booklet you get with says it varies from batch to batch between 9-11 and they advise that you do a test to determine the strength of your copy!

That's strange, would have thought it'd be easier to make them all one strength.

Lee made a big documentary about the production of their filters that was shown on Discovery for a while and in it they showed it's actually a very fine process of mixing the dye agents and dunking the resin/glass in them. They only use women to do all the work because men may have certain degrees of color blindness. It's very interesting...probably on youtube somewhere

Thanks Andy. I think the only reason why I haven't deleted that manipulated piece of nonsense is because it has close to 4000 favs and is nice advertising in the all time popular gallery.

Finally got a proper strong ND, so now the search for my own Palafitico starts!

yip! It's got quite a blue cast, but that's much better than magenta. The magenta affects the warm tones in a sunset very badly and oftenly does damage that can't be recovered in photoshop...

Yeah my girlfriend *justeline used to have the B+W 10 stop ND and the magenta cast it left was hideous.
